Tech Camp Program
The Mission to Manhood Tech Camp Program is a focused three-day initiative designed to provide youth aged 10-18 with essential technology skills. This program educates participants on coding, artificial intelligence, and the basics of robotics, empowering them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
On Day 1, the camp begins with an introduction to coding, explaining its importance and introducing programming languages such as Python or JavaScript. Participants engage in hands-on activities to create their first simple program, followed by an interactive workshop on writing more complex code and debugging techniques. The day concludes with coding games and challenges to reinforce learning, fostering collaboration and reflection on real-world applications.
Day 2 focuses on artificial intelligence, starting with an explanation of AI and its impact on various industries. Participants learn the basics of machine learning and neural networks and explore simple AI tools and applications. The afternoon workshop involves creating basic AI models and experimenting with pattern recognition and predictions, culminating in a group project to develop a simple AI-based application. The day ends with a discussion on AI ethics, future possibilities, and career opportunities, encouraging participants to envision using AI in their future projects.
Day 3 introduces participants to robotics, beginning with an overview of robotics and its applications. Participants learn about basic robotic components and functions, assembling simple robotic kits. The afternoon workshop focuses on programming robots to perform basic tasks and experimenting with sensors and actuators, leading to a group project to design and program a robot to complete a specific challenge. The day concludes with demonstrations of advanced robotics in industry and research, where participants present their projects and discuss the role of robotics in the future and potential career paths.
The Tech Camp runs for three consecutive days at local community centers or schools and is open to young males aged 10-18 who are part of the M2MP initiative. The program aims to equip participants with practical skills in coding, AI, and robotics, inspire them by demonstrating real-world applications of technology, and develop problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. The Mission to Manhood Tech Camp Program is dedicated to fostering technological literacy among young males, providing them with the tools and knowledge to navigate and excel in the digital age.
